The word "DAAN" is a Native American term meaning "to live a healthy, balanced life."
The DAAN™ @ School aims to to teach elementary school students and their families about healthy nutrition and activity choices. It was designed and piloted by health experts from Buffalo Hospital and several schools in Wright County, Minnesota.
With support from New Ulm Medical Center, schools around New Ulm, Minnesota, were the first to implement the program outside of Wright County.
Annandale School District awarded for adding health and wellness to its core curriculum
Allina Hospitals & Clinics awarded Annandale School District the 2008 Healthy Community Award for its integration of health and wellness education into its core curriculum across grades K to 12.
In 2006, the district partnered with Allina's Buffalo Hospital to introduce students in the second, third and fourth grades to the DAAN™ Youth Curriculum.
